What We Do

Although movie posters vary in appearance depending on the dimensions and genre, for The Dark Edge Design, there are only two types we work on: Original Posters, and Refurbished Posters.
Original Posters are created in-house and crafted to showcase your film.
Refurbished Posters are posters that are already made, but for whatever reason, are not layered .PSD files. (required for all streaming platforms) If your poster designer has lost the original .PSD, and you now only have a JPEG of the Poster, The Dark Edge can help. We will separate your title art, credits, laurels, etc, and label them, and put them on separate layers. In essence, changing your flattened JPEG into a .PSD file.

What We Don't Do

Inevitably, despite it not being listed in the "What We Do" section, someone will email us about web design. As in, building websites.  For some reason, people equate designing posters, album covers, book covers, and logo artistry with coding a website.  By that rationale, a film's screenwriter should also be a gaffer. (on-set electrician) The reality is, although some companies may do both: designing websites and graphic design are two very different operations. That said, The Dark Edge does not work on or build websites.

How It Works

Original Posters ($250)

In your very first email,  (thedarkedgedesign (at) gmail.com) you will list the genre, IMDb link to your film, or (nothing longer than two paragraphs) a detailed synopsis of your film.  At this time, we do not do rush orders, so you can expect a two week turnaround time (at maximum) for completion of your movie poster.  Time starts with the first email reply from us. Once we've consented to do the job, you will be required to make a

$100 deposit via Paypal for work to begin.

We only use Paypal. (not Venmo, or any other payment delivery system) In addition to the deposit,  we will need 10 (at minimum) to 20 (preferably) stills from your film.  They must be from the actual film (not Behind The Scenes stills) You may also include a detailed conceptual description of how you would like the poster to look. But this is not necessary. We do appreciate any detailed descriptions, and examples (*"I would like my poster to resemble the 2014 Robocop movie poster", for instance) Otherwise, we will craft a poster based on the stills you provide, and the tone and genre of your film (based on your description of it). You may also include a link to the film's trailer, but please do not send us a screener for the entire film.

When the poster is complete,

you will be sent (a lower res) JPEG. At that point, you may detail what changes you want done to the overall design. After the changes have been implemented, you will be sent a final JPEG of the completed poster.  Included in the price is *one round of edits.

A second round of edits will require an additional $100 deposit.

Once the poster is complete, you will be required to pay the final deposit of $150. Upon receiving the final deposit, you will receive an invoice, and a fully labeled, layered  .PSD file in three standard industry poster sizes: 1200x1600, 2700x4050, and 1920x1080, as well as a theatrical version of the poster, featuring a credit block, and tag line. (if you have one)

Refurbished Posters ($150)

We will take a flattened JPEG of your movie poster, and separate the title art, credits, laurels, etc. into separate layers (creating a .PSD) This will require an one time, up front deposit of $150 via Paypal. We have a one week turnaround time on Refurbished Posters. Upon completion, you will receive an invoice, and a fully layered and labeled .PSD in the three standard industry sizes. (1200x1600, 2700x4050, 1920x1080)

To Recap

You will receive a fully layered, labeled poster ($150 for Refurbished, $250 for Original Posters) for your film. Your poster will be delivered via email  ( 1 week for Refurbished, 2 weeks for Original Posters). Original Posters will include *one round of edits. (each additional round of edits will be an additional $100)
